Meet Author Nichole DeCari

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sister Nichole DeCari to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sister :-).  Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?

ND: I’ve always loved to write since winning my first story contest in elementary school. However, as an adult, I didn’t think my stories were ‘real’ author level. As a result of a challenge from my best friend, I sent one of my works to several publishing companies. To my surprise it was accepted and my first published work released in November 2015.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

ND: Jessica Watkins Presents

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

ND: Urban Fiction with contemporary romance blended in.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

ND: Yes

Slyce: You wrote a book titled “Her Thickness Was His Weakness”. What was this book about?

ND: A beautiful, educated lady with many insecurities including her plus size figure. She falls for a rugged player who is determined to never fall in love. However, after the two go through some difficult times together, they wonder if they can give love a try.

Slyce: Is the book a series or a standalone?

ND: Two part book series

Slyce: How important are interviews?

ND: For aspiring authors, I believe interviews are important to get their work and passion out to potential readers.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

ND: They are important especially for advertising and reaching readers willing to give new authors a try. The reviews can provide credibility so new readers are willing to take a chance on an author.

Slyce: What does the term “Building a Brand” mean?

ND: Growing your skills as you make your work stand out while improving the quality of the work you deliver.

Slyce: What does the phrase “Learn the Craft” mean?

ND: Learning the ropes of the industry in which you write.

Slyce: Do you feel a new author should have a “Team”?

ND: That saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ rings true with building a brand as an author. You need a network of people to help while you push your work to greatness.

Slyce: What was one of the biggest mistakes you made as a new author?

ND: Not researching the industry before I dived in head first. I was so green that I had no clue of all the things it takes to be a stand out author.

Slyce: What advice would you offer to those aspiring to become an author?

ND: Do your homework upfront and then like Nike says, “just do it”. Take a chance and be confident in your ability.

Slyce: Name three authors you would love to work with.

ND: Brenda Jackson, Carl Weber, Eric Jerome Dickey

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

ND: Have my books in brick and mortar stores.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Nichole DeCari?

ND: Yes. I’m currently working on two pieces and hope to finish them soon.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

ND: I definitely write for the passion. It’s also a form of therapy for me. In essence, it’s a way for me to clear my mind.

Slyce: How can our viewers contact you?

ND: FB: #nicholedecari-Fans; Email: nicholedecari@gmail.com
