Meet Author Latoya Chandler

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah Latoya Chandler to “The Interrogation Room” !!! Welcome my sistah 🙂 . Are you ready?…

Slyce: What inspired you to become an Author?

LC: I have journaled all of my life and have always been fascinated with quotes etc. Well three years ago when I met the now love of my life, we discussed writing and he said, “If you want to write a book, write it.” After that, he nagged the hell out of me day in and day out until it aggravated me into writing. What I realized at that point was, I wasn’t crazy and the people in my head were actually potential characters exercising their rights to be heard.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

LC: Passion-Publications, LLC.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

LC: Romance, Contemporary Fiction, Christian Fiction, Suspense and Drama.

Slyce: What excited you about your genre?

LC: I love suspense and mouth dropping moments. I used to live for Lifetime so my writings mirrors a Lifetime show.

Slyce: Have you ever penned under another name?

LC: No I have not. I was told I wouldn’t be anything unless it was on my back so I seeing my name on a book makes the devil a liar.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled “While Your Wife’s Gone”. What was this book about?

LC: It’s about a divorce attorney who as a sick fascination for married men.

Slyce: Where can our viewers purchase this book?

LC: Amazon at the moment.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

LC: It is currently a standalone but readers have been asking for a part two. I am unsure Im going to go that route though. So as of right now, it is a standalone.

Slyce: Is this book a e-book and/or paperback?

LC: Both E-book and paperback.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

LC: Reviews are important because it gives the author feedback weather good bad or indifferent and it allows readers a glimpse into the book from another readers perspective.

Slyce: What does the term “Building a Brand” mean?

LC: It means building an empire. You’re name, business and craft revolve around your brand. You cannot have one without the other. For instance, everyone knows McDonalds because of the golden arches. They’ve branded the yellow M also known as the golden arches. When you see it you automatically relate it to McDonalds. Just like if you follow me and my brand and you see the color purple, nine times out of ten, you will think of me.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

LC: Interviews are important because the goal is to reach one reader at a time and if you just reach one you’ve made an accomplishment.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

LC: Networking outside of the literary industry, interviews, book club meetings discussions, book fair signings, personal signings, handing out flyers every where that my feet touch.

Slyce: What Authors past and/or present had a influence on you?

LC: Danielle Steel and John Grisham.

Slyce: What tools have you found most useful in distributing you material?

LC: Utilizing a mailing list, word of mouth and hitting the streets.

Slyce: Do you feel a new Author should have a “Team”?

LC: At some point yes.

Slyce: What was one of your biggest mistake you made as a “New Author”?

LC: Not researching before I did business with people within the industry.

Slyce: What advice would you offer to those who aspire to become Authors?

LC: Research, research and do a little more research. Google University has free admission, utilize it before you start spending un-necessary money. Don’t just take any and everyones word RESEARCH them and everything that they tell you. Get a professional editor and read over your edits when you get them back and get a proofreader. Also a professional graphic designer, no one wants to look at a stretched out book cover of people with long heads.

Slyce: What goals do you wish to achieve as an Author?

LC: I would love to see my books in all major retailers, become a household name and write full-time.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

LC: Writing is definitely a passion of mine but I’d be a lie if I didn’t say making a profit wasn’t included into the equation.

Slyce: How can our viewers contact you?

LC: www.latoyachandler.com, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter under Latoya Chandler.
