Meet Author AriQui

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author AriQui to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?Author AriQui

AriQui: To be completely honest, God inspired me to become an author. I have been writing poetry, essays and short stories since I was a little girl. I never saw myself as an author. God spoke to me and told me, He needed me to write.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

AriQui: The name of my Publishing company is Snow Publishing. Sonovia Walker-Alexander is my publisher. I absolutely love my snow family.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

AriQui: I guess you can say I am a bit eclectic when it comes to writing genre. Depending on what I am writing depends on where I fit. I write Poetry, Inspirational, Fiction, Women’s Lit, and currently working on Urban Lit.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

AriQui: My pen name that I write under is AriQui.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Speak to the King In Me”. What was this book about?

AriQui: This book is filled with quotes to encourage the men in your life. It doesn’t matter what role they play the husband, son, uncle, friend, boyfriend, co-worker, cousin, nephew, pastor. They are all kings. Ladies answer this what would happen if we stopped calling the men in our lives punks, dogs, telling them they are worthless and begin to call them what God created them to be Kings. This book will help you begin to change your language form taring them down to build them up.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

AriQui: “Speak to the King In Me” is a standalone.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

AriQui: I feel that interviews are a major tool in branding yourself as an author. It is an amazing opportunity for readers to learn about you, a great way for an author to build a following, and even a great way for you as the author to improve your image.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

AriQui: When utilized the way they are intended, they can be very helpful to an author. They allow us to improve our skill. Reviews help us know what readers like, what they look for and if what we write makes an impact. Reviews should ever be used to tear down, belittle or bash an author.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

AriQui: Your brand is what sets you apart. It is what people gravitate to and remember, branding helps you say in the mind of those who follow your path of business whether you are an author, musician, entrepreneur. It is who you are.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

AriQui: Great Question. I am currently in the process of re branding myself. I am currently seeking a logo designer, I am updating my website, I am working on better marketing strategies and promoting myself as well as seeking outside promotion. I am also looking into revamping and bringing back my podcast show.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

AriQui: As an author my achievement is simple…To write until I can’t write anymore. I want to positively impact the lives of people through the messages in each book that I write. I want to leave a legacy for my children, grandchildren and so on. I want to be able to use my platform to travel and speak both nationally and internationally.

Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?

AriQui: If the desire is in you, then do it. Just begin to write. Don’t worry about how it sounds, if you spelled correctly, if the grammar is right. Just get out of your head, to your heart, to the pen, to the paper. All the editing comes later. Start your dream and watch it come into reality.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author AriQui?

AriQui: My lab is cooking with the following: Completing my first Urban Fiction Project entitled, Beauty and The Streets, in 2018 completing books 3,4,5,&6 of the Just Talk To Me Series, Completing my own personal story and my short story collaboration.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

AriQui: It has always been about the passion. If the profit comes, thats a great thing, but if you don’t do what you do for the passion, you will become unhappy with what you do.

Slyce: Name two authors you’d love to work with.

AriQui: Eric Jerome Dicky and Zane.

Slyce: Do you feel a new author should have a team?

AriQui: Yes yes yes yes yes. Yes especially as an indie or self-published author. It is an overwhelming task to promote, brand and market yourself alone.
