Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our Sistah Nika Michelle to “Super Sunday- Interrogation with a Twist” !! Welcome my Sistah 🙂 You ready?…What inspired you to become an Author?

NM:  I love to read and that later turned into a passion for writing.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

NM: I self publish and publish under Leo Sullivan Presents.

Slyce: Have you ever penned in another name?

NM: No. Only Nika Michelle.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

NM: I write urban, erotica and romance.

Slyce: You write a book entitled, “The Reunion: A Forbidden Fruit Story” – what was this book about?

NM:  It is a spin off of the Forbidden Fruit series. It fast forwards four years after the last book and catches the readers up on the characters and their new drama.

Slyce: Where can our viewers purchase this book?

NM: This book is on Kindle for now.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

NM: It is part of a two book series.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

NM: Interviews are very important because they give a authors a voice beyond the books. Readers can call and directly talk to their favorite authors. They also give you an avenue to get your work out to readers who may have never heard of them otherwise.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

NM: Reviews are important for the author and readers. They make a product more relevant and visible to consumers. They also give authors much needed feedback to help growth of future projects.

Slyce: How receptive would you be to a bad review?

NM: Everyone is entitled the their own opinion. I appreciate reviews good or bad. If it’s constructive criticism it can only help me get better.

Slyce: What are your thoughts on the .99 cent book?

NM: Honestly, the 99 cent book helped launch my career. Like most authors, I wasn’t too fond of the idea at first, but in a field that is very flooded now, there are some readers who are skeptical to read a new author. I guess it’s kind of a catch 22 because it seems to diminish the craft in a way, but I don’t knock it at all.

Slyce: Is this book an e-book and/or paperback?

NM: Ebook, but the paperback is dropping soon.

Slyce: What does the term “building a brand” mean?

NM: It means to continue to work on making your business better and more visual to your target market in the most professional way possible.

Slyce: What does the phrase “learn the craft” mean?

NM:  It means to continue to study and educate yourself. I continue to research and take grammar and writing classes.

Slyce: What tools have you found most useful in distributing your material?

NM: Social networking is definitely a great way to reach a larger audience, but good old word of mouth is always the best way to get your work out.

Slyce: If you could choose three Authors to work with, who would they be?

NM: That’s hard. There are so many I’d like to work with.

Slyce: What is the “literary of the ATL”?

NM: A group of 4 authors in Atlanta who portray a positive role as black, professional women in our community.

Slyce: Have you done blog talk radio, book signings or tours?

NM: Yes, I have done them all. I especially like meeting the readers in person.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Nika Michelle?

NM: Yes, I have plenty of projects in the works. The Reunion 2 and a collaboration with another author is on the way.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

NM:  I definitely write for the passion first and foremost, but it’s my career, so a profit is good.

Slyce: I’d like to thank guest Author Nika Michelle for joining us in “Super Sunday- Interrogation with a Twist” !! Thank you my Sistah 🙂 You were wonderful !!
