Meet Author Tynice Rochell Henley

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Tynice Rochell Henley to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-).  Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?Author Tynice Rochell Henley

TRH: Actually, it was my love of reading. I always felt so connected to the stories I read, that it put the desire for me to do the same. As a visionary, you dream to inspire, and pull people in to your vision. Writing is my way to do just that.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

TRH: True Glory Publications.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

TRH: I write fiction. Urban, Drama, Suspense, and Historical.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

TRH: No I haven’t. Yet, the name I write under is my maiden name.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Secrets That Women Share”. What was this book about?

TRH: I’m glad you asked. “Secrets That Women Share” is about three friends, (Kennede, Marlanea, and Gracey) who are brought together in a series of strange, unfortunate events; that leaves them speculating that they all may be experiencing the same nightmare. It will keep you guessing the who what of the book.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

TRH: The book is so far a sequel. But, when you’re writing a book, it tends to lead you. So, a series is not out of the question.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

TRH: Interviews are very important. Yes, they’re great for exposure; getting your book known. But, it helps bridge Author to fan; fan to Author. When you can relate one to the other. It makes reading that book, that novel a little more special. You’re more involved in the story… In the vision. Because you’ve seen, read or heard an interview by that Author.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

TRH: Reviews are so important. Reviews help me as an Author. Did the story come through? Was it felt, or understood? Did it leave you wondering… Waiting for that sequel?
Or did it leave you confused, with no direction? Reviews help you grow and become better and stronger.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

TRH: To me it means selling yourself. The brand isn’t your books; it’s you. You’ve got to get people to buy into your dream; your vision. So just by the mention of your name, they’re sold already on whatever you’ve written. Because they know the brand (the Author) puts out quality.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

TRH: As a first time Author, and just beginning, I’m learning and taking notes from all those under my publication. But I’m looking forward to getting a website, doing book launches, video trailers for upcoming books, and more.

Slyce: What Authors past and/or present had an influence on you?

TRH: Authors that influenced me… Lynn Harris, Sista Souljah, James Patterson, Dean Koontz.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

TRH: Just to write and inspire.

Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?

TRH: Don’t wait! Step out on faith, now. God’s got you. Most importantly… Read, read, read. You learn by reading. And don’t be afraid to ask fellow writers for guidance.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Tynice Rochell Henley?
