Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?Author Tip Montana

TM: I’ve always had a passion for writing and while I was in middle school I use to always write short stories and pass them out to my classmates. I was reading a book one day ( can’t remember the title) and said to myself “I can write a book too.”

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

TM: Mz Lady P Presents

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

TM: Urban Fiction

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

TM: No just Tip Montana

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “When Hood Love Hurts”. What was this book about?

TM: “When Hood Love Hurts” is about two young women and the men in their lives.
You have Jamesia who is promiscuous and in love with her best friends older brother, who’s in a relationship. Even though Jamesia herself is in a relationship, she wants him.
Then there is Nariah who is in a relationship with her brothers best friend/ business party. Their happy for the most part until he steps out on her and all hell breaks loose.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

TM: It’s a two part series

Slyce: Is your book an eBook and/or paperback?

TM: It’s available in paperback and eBook.

Slyce: How important is research?

TM: Very! You don’t want to write about something that you know nothing about because the readers will catch on to it. Even though it Fiction, I like to make my work relatable.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

TM: Interviews are very important. It gives me a chance to connect with readers and let them know a little bit about me and my work.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

TM I love to get feedback from readers on my work and I appreciate constructive criticism.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

TM: Bringing awareness to my work, advertising and promoting.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

TM: I promote my books daily, I pass out my business cards everywhere I go, I keep a few copies of my book with me at all times.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

TM: To become a best selling Author and bring readers enjoyment from my work.

Slyce: What advice can you offer those aspiring to become an author?

TM: Never give up and believe in yourself. In this industry you have to have tough skin and know that it’s someone out there that’s going to love your work even if others don’t. Work hard and stay consistent.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Tip Montana?

TM: Yes! I have a Domestic Violence Novella that’s coming out this month titled, “A Single Red Rose”.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

TM: Passion! Although I love the profit, lol. When I write I take my time and I don’t rush. I don’t want to just put out anything for people to buy so I can get paid. I take my writing very serious.

Slyce: What was one of the biggest mistakes you’ve made as a new author?

TM: I can’t say that I’ve made any mistakes honestly.

TM: No, but I would love too.

Slyce: Any plans for expansion into film?

TM: Yes! I would love for one of my books to be turned into a movie.
