Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Shana W. Gourdine to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
SWG: I was inspired by my dream of being an Author since I was 12. My kids were my other inspiration after they’d seen me go through domestic violence and abuse.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
SWG: I didn’t create a publishing company. I created a business called
Shana UNMASKING Motivation.
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
SWG: My writing genre is poetry, self help.
Slyce: Have you ever penned under another name?
SWG: No I never penned under another name.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “The Mask Behind the Mask”. What was this book about?
SWG: My book is book of poetry and spoken words that I put together for people to love all their imperfections despite what they are dealing with on a day to day basis.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
SWG: This is a 3 part series. The second book is called, “Unveiled Pieces Of Broken Mask” which out in Amazon and all other platforms.
Slyce: Is this book an audio, eBook and/or paperback?
SWG: My first book , “The Mask Behind the Mask” is eBook, paperback, and hardcover.
Slyce: How important are interviews?
SWG: I feel it important to have interview so audience and individuals get know who are and why you wrote book. It give them a chance to get understand you.
Slyce: How important are reviews?
SWG: Reviews are very important… you get to hear how people respond to your work even if good or bad.
Slyce: What does the term “Building A Brand” mean?
SWG: It means that you book and everything you do is your brand is business. Being a Author is more than just writing a book.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
SWG: I had figure out what did stand for and my brand is my mission with my book, music and everything else I do. Know who audience is as well because everyone is not for you and your brand.
Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?
SWG: I write for a passion, if a profit comes that bless from God. I use my story to heal others through my trauma.
Slyce: What goals do you wish to achieve as an author?
SWG: My goal as Author was do be able help heal individuals through my words. I have now about to release a poetry album as spoken word artist . So my goal has succeeded my vision. My goal and vision is to be vessel of the one that need it.
Slyce: What advice can you offer to those aspiring to become authors?
SWG: To take the step out your head and put it on paper. Don’t worry about fear you have story tell and only you can tell that story.
Slyce: How did it feel when you first held your book in your hands?
SWG: My very first book I cried of joy, second book I was excited.
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Shana W. Gourdine?
SWG: I have several Anthology coming me out this year. I have collaborate in several projects this year so far 2 have release so far. I am also releasing my spoken word album on May 7th 2021. It will be all streaming platform.

SWG: Don’t have any at top list right now
Slyce: What marketing tips can you share with our viewers?
SWG: Learn who is your audience to market too. Don’t give up on your marketing strategy because not successful ..go back to draw board and put another plan together market. Keep going , don’t give up on your self. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
