Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author S.N.M Jones to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
SNMJ: As a young girl I found writing an outlet for emotions or as a way to express my desires (such as wanting a pony).
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
SNMJ: I’m self-published under S.N.M Jones Books.
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
SNMJ: I write thriller/suspense and just recently released my first non fiction Black Women Need Love Too.
Slyce: Have you ever penned under another name?
SNMJ: Technically yes, but it was job-related and while I was in the military.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Black Women Need Love Too”. What was this book about?
SNMJ: It’s my first nonfiction! It’s a historical perspective of the Black Woman’s relationship with herself and others and how we’ve internalized the stereotypes to the detriment of ourselves and our community.
I try to address “The angry black woman” the bitter black woman, the gold-digging slut/prude to name a few.
But I also address stereotypes that are associated with the Black man such as “the no good black man” “the lazy a$$ black man” “the player” and so forth. You can check the book out on Amazon.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
SNMJ: It’s a stand alone. However, I plan to tackle so much more!
Slyce: Is this book an audio, eBook and/or paperback?
SNMJ: It’s available via paperback and eBook and soon via audio.
Slyce: How important are interviews?
SNMJ: Very important! Every INDIE Author needs exposure!
Slyce: How important are reviews?
SNMJ: Reviews are extremely important as well! The reviews helps the author gain exposure and move up in the algorithm on Google, Amazon and so forth!

Slyce: What does the term “Building A Brand” mean?
SNMJ: I had to learn this the hard way- As the author I am the brand so I needed to learn how to market myself. Building your brand helps establish relationships and let people know they can trust you and your product is on point!
Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?
SNMJ: For the passion! Do I want profit- yes but that will come as I pursue my passion!
Slyce: What goals do you wish to achieve as an author?
SNMJ: I have so many! I want to start my own podcast- turn my series into a movie and serve as a beacon of hope in my community and affect change.
Slyce: What advice can you offer to those aspiring to become authors?
SNMJ: Just start writing. Have faith in yourself and don’t worry so much about the critics. Write what makes you happy and eventually your audience will come to you. Oh and MARKET MARKET MARKET!!!
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author S.N.M Jones?
SNMJ: Yes, I’m always coming up with new ideas and currently working on a prequel and starting another series!
Slyce: Name three authors you’d love to work with
SNMJ: There are so many……Stephen King who was one of my inspiration- Eric Jerome Dickey (may he RIP) and the last one is a toss up because I would love to work with someone local in the DMV area….and I found so many authors through groups like this that …I can’t pick.
