Meet Author Rasheed Carter

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our brother, Author Rasheed Carter to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my brother:-). Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?Author Rasheed Carter

RC: I became an author by accident. I was in a situation where I was experiencing heartache. I wrote my feelings down and that turned into a story. I let a few people read it and a bright idea developed in my head. I wanted to write a book.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

RC: Currently, I’m signed to Leo Sullivan Presents.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

RC: I write urban fiction.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

RC: No, the name Rasheed Carter is the Brand.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Love Without Betrayal”. What was this book about?

RC: “Love Without Betrayal” is my current project and it touches on complicated emotions.

Stephanie is a good woman consumed with the complications of loving a grown up little boy.

Michael is immature, focused on video games, hanging out with his boys, and sleeping around with any and every available woman whenever Stephanie’s head is turned.

She can’t explain why she remains committed to him or why she tolerates his abusive behavior. Stephanie can’t walk away from Michael, no matter how bad she wants to. It’s something about Michael that keeps her falling in love with him over and over again, even if it hurts so much in the end.

Khalil is a strong man entrusted with the responsibility of making sure everyone in his circle is taken care of. He is a man first before any other attribute ascribed to him.

His biggest downfall is placing everyone’s happiness before his own. He is involved with Sasha, a naughty woman with animosity in her heart toward him. She interprets him as dumb and lame. How else would you describe a man stupid enough to love someone who doesn’t love them in return, and on top of that, claim a child who isn’t his?

Karma is communicated through people, and justice is served through vengeance. Stephanie reaches her boiling point and reciprocates Michael’s dishonesty and infidelity by impulsively giving in to a stranger and doing the unthinkable with a man who she has never seen before a day in her life.

Rasheed Carter depicts a story like no other in this fast-paced drama with believable characters struggling to find love, dealing with being cheated on, and how to move forward without being a bitter and scorned ex.

The best way I can express it.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

RC: This book is a series. I found that readers prefer series over stand alone books. My prior works were all stand alone books that’s how I came to understand that readers prefer reading series.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

RC: Interviews are extremely important. They help spread the word about the author, in this case me, and their new projects (love without betrayal)

Slyce: How important are reviews?

RC: Reviews are important communicators to the reading community and it helps out a lot.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

RC: Building a brand is consistency and constantly working, creating an image that readers can readily identify with.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

RC: Creating a pattern of consistent books that entertain readers. Normally, I drop a book and go off and do something else. Now, I’m focused on repeating the process of writing and releasing books for readers to enjoy.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

RC: Relevancy, consistency, longevity

Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?

RC: Understand that writing is a job. You have to write and read. Read and write and write and read and when you get burnt out you have to write write and read and write.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Rasheed Carter?

RC: Absolutely. I’m here and I’m happy to be working again.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

RC: Passion is profit. If you follow your passion and create an opportunity with it, your passion can turn a profit.

RC: Both paperbacks are in production but the eBook is available now on Amazon for all interested parties.

Slyce: What was one of your biggest mistakes a a new author?

RC: Trusting people too much, focusing on money over my craft and thinking I could do everything on my own.

Slyce: Do you feel a new author should have a team?

RC: Yes any form of business requires a team to help execute a game plan. An author is a business person rather self published or traditionally published. A good team is key.
