Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our brother, Author Malcolm Boyd to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my brother:-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
MB: I started writing at an early age.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
MB: Three Legged Elephant publishing
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
MB: I like to think of my writing as crime fiction or action thriller.
Slyce: Have you penned under another name?
MB: No but I have a children’s book out as well “My First Train”.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “One Way In No Way Out”. What was this book about?
MB: It’s about a guy that’s too nice for his own good. He gets himself in way over his head. All his friends think he’s a criminal master mind but he’s just an everyday guy.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
MB: This is book one if a trilogy.
Slyce: Is your book an eBook and/or paperback?
MB: Both with a audio book coming soon.
Slyce: Can you tell us what is “The Last OG”?
MB: It’s a network show starring, Tracy Morgan. It airs on TBS.
Slyce: How important are interviews?
MB: As important breathing air. It’s really the only way people get to know who you are.
Slyce: How important are reviews?
MB: As much as I wish they weren’t, they can make or break a writers success. I’m on book three and still I have to really dig for reviews.
Slyce: How important is research?
MB: Have you ever read a book and nothing seems right? The story is all over the place. Nine times out of ten that’s because the author didn’t do research.
Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?
MB: For me it’s all about spreading the word about myself and what I’m about.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
MB:
- I’m doing and trying different things
- I’m acting modeling
- Part time journalist
Slyce: What advice can you offer those aspiring to become an author?
MB:
- Keep writing
- Share your stuff
- And write about everything
- Don’t box yourself in
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Malcolm Boyd?
MB: I started a scene fiction but I put it down because I’m so busy with this acting thing. I’m also working on the screen play for my book, “One Way In No Way Out”. With any luck, we’re thinking a cable TV show something like that.
Slyce: Name three authors you’d love to work with.
MB: That’s a hard question, because working with another author is about having similar visions. And I think so much outside the box I think I wouldn’t work well with others.
But if I have to pick one I’m going to go with someone younger, a new face maybe the brotha that wrote “Get Out”- Jordan Peel.
