Slyce: What inspired you to become an Author?
LB: I have always been an avid reader; still am.. so I have loved the art of story telling, so here I am telling stories.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
LB: I am with Passion Publications.
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
LB: Women’s Fiction, urban fiction, romance.
Slyce: What excited you about your genre?
LB: I love the drama that comes with urban fiction, and the sex I’ve learned a lot reading some books lol.
Slyce: Have you ever penned under another name?
LB: No I have not.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled “The Ex Files”. What was this book about?
LB: “The Ex files” is about young lady who that she found love but he was really playing games with her. He was involved with two other women but wanted to keep her to himself. She ended getting very ill because of him. She dealt with that. she had giving up on love and men until she met her soul mate, or had she?
Slyce: Where can our viewers purchase this book?
LB: You can get them from amazon or if they want signed paperback I have them available as well.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
LB: It’s a 2 part series.
Slyce: Is this book a e-book and/or paperback?
LB: It is both.
Slyce: How important are interviews?
LB: They are very important to me. Lets me talk about my books and give people the chances to get to know me.
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Latonia Butler?
LB: I am currently working on 2 more books that are due out next year, and I am thinking about doing a children’s book with my soon to be 8 yr. old niece.
Slyce: What tools have you found most useful in distributing you material?
LB: Word of mouth and book events and people love giveaways.
Slyce: What does the term “Building a Brand” mean?
LB: To me it means getting myself out to the public and getting my material out there.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
LB: Right now I am trying to just get my name out in the public.. I try to post every day in my groups or just on my Facebook twitter Instagram and Tumblr pages… I want people to say oh yea I know that girl.
Slyce: How important are reviews?
LB: They are very important to me. It lets me know what people think about my writing.
Slyce: What does the phrase “Learn the Craft” mean?
LB: For me I am taking some creative writing classes so I can approve my writing and I am also taking some editing classes. I can’t stand a poorly edited book.
Slyce: What Authors past and/or present had a influence on you?
LB: I am a huge Jackie Collins fan… I love V.C. Andrews……I love reading anything by them.
Slyce: Do you feel a new Author should have a “Team”?
LB: Yes you need someone to critique your writing and someone to lean on when your down and out about writing.. so many time I have wanted to give up but my publisher and co-authors pulled me through.
Slyce: What was one of your biggest mistake you made as a “New Author”?
LB: Not branding myself.. not being ready to sell my books at book events.
Slyce: What goals do you wish to achieve as an Author?
LB: To be on New York’s best seller.
Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?
LB: I write for passion… I never thought about the profit.
Slyce: Name three Authors you’d love to work with?
LB: oh boy just 3 lets see Kendra Reeves, Author Navi Robins and Author Hope Destiny and one more Bryant FloridaElite Zanders.
