Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Lady Legacy to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
LL: Well, I have been an avid reader for over a decade. My sister and I started talking about the business side of the book industry a few years back. We went back and forth on how it would be great to write a book. You know just to see if we could do it successfully since we had a great passion for reading. Then after being a True Glory page administrator for over three years I felt it was time. Shameek encouraged me that I could do it. So I gave it a try. I’m happy I did!!!!
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
LL: My personal publishing company is called Loyal Legacy Publishing. However, my book is under True Glory Publications.
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
LL: My general genre is Urban Fiction but I’m open to other genres in the future.
Slyce: Have you penned under another name?
LL: No, I haven’t penned under no other name other than “Lady Legacy”.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Scandalous Affairs”. What was this book about?
LL: Well, this book is about a successful married couple. The wife Chrissy has been dealing with infidelity in her marriage for years. However, her husband Maceo crossed the line with a particular mistress. This book tells a great story I feel a lot of people can relate to. It’s filled with the ultimate betrayal, lies , sex, and drama. It’s definitely a page turner.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
LL: It’s a series and I plan on giving the readers as much as they desire from this story line.
Slyce: How important are interviews?
LL: Interviews are important because you can get connected with the people who are supporting you, get your name out there as a new author, and it’s an excellent way of book promoting.
Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?
LL: Building a brand is developing who you are as an author and how readers will perceive you. I plan on building my brand by staying true to myself. I want to write relatable story lines and I want my readers to get emotionally connected to each story I write.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
LL: Well, first off I’m getting up close and personal with my readers. I’ve made an author page called Author Lady Legacy. I have a book group on Facebook called “Let’s Share Urban Fiction”. Anyone is welcome to join. I’m networking in several other book groups and talking daily with my fans. My next step is to work on my website.
Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?
LL: The first goal I had was to hit Amazon’s Bestsellers List. I’ve already accomplished that goal. So, my next go is to become a National Bestselling Author.
Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?
LL: My advice to new authors are to stay true to yourself. Keep your story line believable, don’t put too many characters in one story line, and pace yourself. Never rush a story line!!!! Then the most important advice is to stay connected with your readers!!!
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Lady Legacy?
LL: Yes. I’m cooking up a few things. You haven’t heard the last of Author Lady Legacy. I’m currently working on “Scandalous Affairs Part 2” and I also have a new story line I plan on writing really soon!
Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?
LL: I write for passion and if I did my job well enough the profits are a great bonus!
Slyce: Name three authors you’d love to work with.
LL: As for now I’m good with working by myself. I’m a new author so I need to continue to develop myself as an author. I don’t know what the future holds but I’m a fan of several authors. So, maybe in a year from now working with other authors would be an awesome option. I am open to it in the future.
Slyce: What was one of your biggest mistakes as a new author?
LL: Well, I’m tough on myself and I am my biggest critic. So, my biggest mistake would be being too hard on myself. I had to learn it’s ok to have a few hiccups here and there as long as you learn from them.
