Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Kelly Marie to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
KM: I have always had an interest in writing from a young age and I used to write stories for entertainment while I was home with my children. But I decided to take it more seriously on a professional level after my best friend encouraged me to share my ideas with the world.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
KM: I am under Leo Sullivan Presents.
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
KM: Urban fiction and romance.
Slyce: Have you penned under another name?
KM: No I have only used Kelly Marie.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Enticed by A Thug Love”. What was this book about?
KM: It is about three young women who meet three brothers where the encounter doesn’t go too well. They start to see them as everything they would never want in a man but for some strange reason they find themselves still drawn to the men until they can’t fight it and end up falling for the same men they once hated.
Slyce: Is this book a stand-alone or series?
KM: It is a three part series. Part 3 will be releasing this month.
Slyce: Is this book an eBook or paperback?
KM: It is an eBook however I will be attending the Atlanta Kickback where signed paperbacks will be available.
Slyce: How important are interviews?
KM: They are very important to me because it gives readers a chance to get to know me as an author. To find out about me beyond the books.
Slyce: How important are reviews?
KM: Reviews are very important because they not only help draw people into reading them but they also help me grow as an author. It’s beneficial for me to see what readers liked and disliked about the book I wrote, it’s characters or just my writing skills in general and gives me great feedback that I then incorporate into my future books.
Slyce: What does the term, “building a brand” mean?
KM: To me it is putting your own uniqueness into a product or service you are trying to sell. A way for people to identify your craftsmanship and a way to reassure them that seeing your name lets them know the quality they will get from you.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build a brand?
KM: I am still learning from this industry and the wonderful people around me, so I’m taking that to better my writing skills. I am also using promotional groups, websites and networking with all types of people to get my name and books out there. Things like this interview 🙂
Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?
KM: I would love to reach NYT best sellers. That would be my ultimate achievement and goal. Also seeing my books being produced into movies or even a Netflix series.
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Kelly Marie?
KM: Yes part 3 to ENTICED BY A THUG LOVE is on its way as well as a new 2-part series and a stand-alone.
Slyce: What advice can you offer to those aspiring to become authors?
KM: I would advice them to be true to their writing and be themselves. It’s so easy to look around at what others are doing and try to replicate but I would advice to just do them because there is only one them and people need to see that.
Slyce: Do you write for passion or profit?
KM: I write purely for the passion. I love writing and sharing my ideas with people; to let them into my world for that moment through my words.
Slyce: Have you ever done blog talk radio?
KM: No but I would love to!
