Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our brother, Author Garland B. Hampton Jr. to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my brother:-). Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?Author Garland B. Hampton Jr.

GH: Becoming an author has always been a dream of mine. Having a book out was definitely on my list of must dos to be proud of and said I did this.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

GH: BlaqRayn is my publishing company

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

GH: There is no specific genre that I stay in, I just write from my mind and heart. Its a mixture of everything and every type as long as its from my soul.

Slyce: Any thoughts on trying another genre?

GH: My mind is so open to everything at this point. I’ll try and do any and everything to expand my pallet.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

GH: No never, my name is who i am and it means the world to me. So, I want my true name to be imprinted of my accomplishments and my legacy.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Blood Of A Poet”. What was this book about?

GH: My book is a version of what us men go through and how we feel. The world expects us to keep things bottled up and if we express ourselves then we are soft or not strong minded. My book is us men venting to people to let the world know we are more than what meets the eye and we hurt more than you think.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

GH: I have just decided to allow this to be a 2 or 3 part series. We will continue to work on us men being heard and our hearts and lives being mended. I really just want everyone to see that you can say we matter but us men feel like robots and we feel out of place at times but the right people do come in our lives and love and care for us like we need and want and we appreciate them.

Slyce: Is your book an eBook and/or paperback?

GH: My book is book paperback and e-book which is being sold on Amazon.

Slyce: How important is research?

GH: Research is very important, but it also includes life lessons. You can’t reach people if you have never been through anything personally.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

GH: I think interviews allow others to see a side of you that is better than reading on paper. It gives the viewers a chance to see you open up and let them see and connect on other levels.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

GH: I love reviews, having people to be honest and let me know there thoughts and how I can improve or if I’m on the right track and if I’m reaching the right people. Positive vibes all around though.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

GH: Creating something you can be proud of. I am my brand, and I try to set examples for myself in which would allow people to see that I am what I write. I do plan to explore and build my brand to become more and bigger.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

GH: I am working with a few people and companies to build and create more following my book as far as shirts, cards etc. All that will come to play very soon for the world to see.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as a poet/author?

GH: I would love to travel to poetry and spoken word events and do interviews and book signings and so much more the universe is the limit for me and my poetry.

Slyce: What advice can you offer those aspiring to become poet/authors?

GH: Be yourself and write what you feel even if its scramble. You can only make sense to what you put on paper the rest will follow.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Garland B. Hampton Jr.?

GH: My mind runs a million miles a minute lol. So many things cooking and I want to make a reality, but with the drive I now have I am motivated to make a lot of it happen for myself.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

GH: I write for the passion, I love reaching people to let them know they are not alone and that others feel the same way or have been through the same things.

Slyce: Name three authors you’d love to work with.

GH:

  • Porcha A-hava Hiley
  • Robert Louis Stevenson
  • Lady Caress

All who are great poets in there own way.

Slyce: Have you ever done blog talk radio?
