Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Clara Allen-Taylor to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
CAT: When i was young my father used to make us read for two a day then when ad to talk about what we read in front of the entire family. So one day i got the idea of writing my own instead of reading someone else’s and then i love the idea of creating a story, been writing every since.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
CAT: I am Currently under True Glory Publications.
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
CAT: Well currently my published work is under urban fiction. But I write in other genres such as children’s and sci-fi.
Slyce: Have you penned under another name?
CAT: Well the name i currently use is the first and only pen name ive used.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “You Can’t Break Me”. What was this book about?
CAT: It’s a series about how a person can go through true hell, but still be able to break through.
Slyce: Is this book an eBook and/or paperback?
CAT: Currently, its only an eBook, but we’re working on getting paperbacks.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
CAT: Series
Slyce: Name two of the main characters
CAT: Asia and Teri
Slyce: In what city does this story take place?
CAT: A city in Louisiana and Atlanta
Slyce: How important are interviews?
CAT: They are very important to me. I ant my readers to get to know me that way they can connect to my work even more.
Slyce: What does the term, “building a brand” mean?
CAT: Building a brand to me means, building a name and an image.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
CAT: Right now the steps I’m taking are working towards my community. Once i work with my community i plan to branch out.
Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?
CAT: I want to be one of the greats. I’ve already achieved my main goal which was releasing my work. But now that I’ve done that i want and i know i can do more.
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Clara Allen-Taylor?
CAT: Yes! I’m always working on something new and exciting. With all the recent things I’ve been doing and new people I’ve connected with i haven’t been able to turn off my creative flow.
Slyce: What advice can you offer to those aspiring to become authors?
CAT: Don’t give up and don’t doubt your talent. There were times I wanted to give up because of somethings that happened before. But my husband and people who’s read my work wouldn’t let me. And also don’t trust every word people has to say. There are people that will make a lot of promises but in the end they just want your money.
Slyce: Do you write for passion or profit?
CAT: Writing for me has always been a passion and a stress reliever for me. The main reason I made the decision to publish my work is because of my daughter. I wanted her to see that she should always follow her dreams.
Slyce: Do you feel a new author should have a team?
CAT: Yes, you have to have people in your corner. Without them I would’ve given up a long time ago.
Slyce: Have you done blog talk radio?
CAT: No, but I’d love to one day.
