Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Candi B to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
CB: As a kid when I grew tired of playing with my toys I would pick up a book and read. When I was in the 3rd grade I used all my notebook paper and attempted to write a book. I love getting lost in words.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
CB: Candi B Presents but I first started writing under Talehia Presents. Shoutout to Talehia!
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
CB: Urban/Urban Romance
Slyce: Have you ever penned under another name?
CB: Nope. I’ve always written under Candi B.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Risking It All For That Hood Love”. What was this book about?
CB: “Risking It All For That Hood” is a coming to age book. It’s a story about a young girl who’s been dealt a bad hand. She’s gone through the system and ends up with a family who’s used and abused her. She has no where to go or anyone to turn to until she runs into an old friend.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
CB: Standalone
Slyce: How important are interviews?
CB: Nowadays I feel like interviews aren’t as popular as they were a few years ago. With social media millions of people have access to you. With a click of a button your life can change without anyone knowing you.
Slyce: What does the term “Building A Brand” mean?
CB: Building a brand to me in this industry means “I have arrived” lol. I want my name to be in the same categories as KC Mills, Natavia, and Mz. Lady P. When a reader hears Candi B I want them to automatically know what my brand brings to the table.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
CB: I’ve recently launched my own publishing company Candi B Presents. With all that I’ve learned in this industry I would love to teach and be a mentor to other aspiring writers. So if you are looking for a publishing home please feel free to contact me.
Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?
CB: I always write for passion but the profit is definitely motivation. Anytime you can get paid to do what you love is a win.
Slyce: What goals do you wish to achieve as an author?
CB: My first goal as a writer was to get that #1 and I’ve done that with 5 books. Now my goals are to keep learning, growing and putting out good books.
Slyce: What advice can you offer to those aspiring to become authors?
CB: If you are a new author my advice to you would be don’t take everything so personal. If you are with a publisher LISTEN and if you are self publishing LEARN the craft. Don’t think success comes overnight. You have to hustle, hustle, and hustle. Just get with Candi B Presents I’ll help you! 
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Candi B?
CB: Yessss I’m always in the lab cooking up this dope shit!! I’m currently putting the finishing touches on an novella and Part 2 to That Thug Love Hit Different.

CB: 3 authors I would like to work with? That is a hard question with all the talent that’s out there.
