Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Black Lavish to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?

Author Black Lavish

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?

BL: I’ve always loved to write and read books since I was a child. I first started off writing on Watt pad under the name Black Lavender knights. I remember getting on Facebook one day and seeing there was a short story challenge going on. Being kind of shy I decided to make a page and post my story for the challenge. That was years and books ago and I am so happy I participated because that’s where I first got a following.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

BL: K. Renee Presents.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

BL: Urban fiction.

Slyce: Have you ever penned under another name?

BL: Yes, Black Lavender.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Good Boys Ain’t No Fun- Loving A Hood Millionaire”. What was this book about?

BL: The book is about a rap girl named Ocean who meets big time rapper Nazi after her boyfriend takes a bullet for him. When Nazi takes interest in her she is has to choose between her boyfriend Dwayne or getting with millionaire rapper Nazi. That’s the base of the story though, but there is so much more. I would highly recommend reading it for the drama lol.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

BL: A 3 part series.

Slyce: Is this book an eBook and/or paperback?

BL: eBook, but will soon be available for paperback hopefully.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

BL: I think they are important because it gives the readers a chance to better know the author behind some of their favorite stories.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

BL: I believe reviews are very important because they are the first thing some people look at before reading your work. They can draw in new readers or turn them away depending on the review.

Slyce: What does the term “Building A Brand” mean?

BL: It mean’s you are putting in effort to market and build something around what you are selling. A brand is everything and even authors need a brand to sell their work. To me building my brand will involve creating books, eBooks, shirts, websites, and much more. Something much larger than just books.

Slyce: What goals do you wish to achieve as an author?

BL: Of course I would like to be a national best seller, but I would also like to see my books turn into films or plays one day. I always envision them that way when writing.

Slyce: Do you write for passion or the profit?

BL: I write from my passion of the craft, but I can’t say the profit doesn’t hurt.

Slyce: What advice can you offer to those aspiring to become an author?

BL: Do your research on the industry and make sure you build a strong relationship with your readers because they are your foundation to success.

Slyce: Name three authors you’d love to work with.

BL: Jessica Watkins, Shvonne Latrice, and K Renee.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Black Lavish?

BL: Yes, very soon Good Boy’s Aint No Fun 2, will be released. I’m thinking within the next couple weeks.

Slyce: Have you done blog talk radio/podcast?
