Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Black Barbie to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?

BB:  What Inspired me to become an Author was from my interest of reading and always being the one wanting to tell the story, Scope, Gossip, or Tea.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

BB: Blacks Barbie Presents  

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

BB: I write under all Genre, seeing that I refuse to Be Labeled As only an Urban Author. I Have a Motivational Book that’s out now, titled Inspire 2B Inspired.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

BB: I’ve never Penned under another name before. I’ve been Holding The pen name “Black Barbie” since August, 2014

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “The War On Us”. What was this book about?

BB:  Lol, “The War On Us” is about the injustice that the African American Men deal with daily. The War On Us, explains to it’s readers how a Cop With what seems to be Good “Intentions” can turn out to have bad motives in the end.

Take My Character Charles for example. Life for Charles as a kid started out perfect until he was taken in by Local Police Officer Newman, and trained to be his personal hitman. 

“The War On Us”, explains to it’s readers how the community cooperate with local law enforcement as long as it doesn’t stop the flow of illegal lucrative income.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

BB: “The War On Us” Is A Stand Alone Book, Seeing that I not only want for my readers to visualize what their reading, but to also understand the concept of what they’re reading.

Slyce: Is this book an eBook or paperback?

BB: “The War On Us” is Available in Both editions, eBook & Paperback.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

BB: For me, Interviews are very important. I feel that it’s Important for me to put myself out there and allow for my readers to understand my literature and pen. I feel that my readers deserve all of the interviews they want. I feel that it’s important for my readers to no who I am outside of the pen. I need for my readers to no the difference between Black Barbie and Ebony. I Feel That It’s Important for My Readers To Literally No That I’m A Regular Person, with life’s flaws, a clown, and a got Damn Fool.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

BB: The Term building a brand means Team Work. In order to build or establish a Brand, you Have To Have a Solid Foundation with a Dedicated Team. Building a Brand Means Dedication, Hard Work, And Consistency. 

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

BB: The Steps That I’m currently taking to build Black Barbie as a brand, is consistency. I’m dedicated to writing and publishing my books in order for me to establish myself as a brand.

What good is any Brand Without Quantity, Variety, And consistency. Consistent With My Production of Books. Motivated to Provide a different Genre of Fiction & Non-Fiction Books.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

BB: As of right now, the only goal that I wish to achieve as an Author is For my readers to gain interest in my motivational book “Inspire 2B Inspired” so they could gain interest in the other Genre of Black Barbie.  

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Black Barbie?

BB: I Have a New Photoshoot this month to re-brand Author Black Barbie. Hopefully, I’m selected for the Essence Festival 2019 in New Orleans. Y’all pray for me. I’ll also be publishing my latest book Richmond, I’m undecided as of yet if I should make it a stand alone or a series.

Slyce: What advice can you offer to those aspiring to become authors?

BB: The advice that I would offer to aspiring authors, would be to follow their dreams. Make time for themselves in order to fulfill their dreams. No one will understand you as you isolate yourself and write. Follow your dreams and do whatever you feel is best for you and right.

Slyce: Do you write for passion or profit?

BB: I write for passion, seeing that I gift some of My paperback books To Libraries & My Reader. Of course It would be nice to have a large profit, however for now I love the interaction that I get from my readers in reference to my characters.

Slyce: Have you ever done blog talk radio?

BB: Nope, I’ve never ever done any type of blog talk.

Slyce: Name three authors you’d love to work with.

BB: I would Love to write with Sista Soulja. Eric Dicky, and Keisha Ervin. and Of Course the Late Donald Goines who inspired me to read.
