Meet Author Yasmine Mitchell

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Yasmine Mitchell to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?Author Yasmine Mitchell

YM: Ahhhhh!!! It’s crazy Lol. I never envisioned myself becoming an author. I use to write poems as a little girl, but I had outgrown that stage. When I started writing it was a more of the spare of the moment type of thing, and it just went from there. I just get in my zone, and just write. As I started reading bits and peices to close family and friends they inspired me to keep writing, and here I am in the process of publishing my first book..

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

YM: As of now, I’m currently not working with a publishing company. If my journey goes very far, I plan to self publish my work.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

YM: My book is Urban Fiction. I’m hoping to explore and write other genres along the way.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

YM: No I’ve never penned under other names. Who knows maybe in the future I will.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “The Life Of A Spouse”. What was this book about?

YM: It’s kind of hard to explain what exactly my book is about. I will say that although my book is fiction it’s truth. It focuses on real life aspects and challenges couples face throughout relationships and marriage’s. Sometimes people fail to except reality but it’s things people deal with in real “Life” and afraid to admit it. I’ve seen it. Some of those things are Betrayal, lust, infidelity and so on….. I don’t really want to go in to much detail and spoil it for those waiting.LOL

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

YM: Not exactly sure yet, but there will definitely be a part two. 🙂

Slyce: How important are interviews?

YM: Interviews are very important. It gives fans the opportunity to get to know me as a person, and Author while also promoting myself during the process.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

YM: Reviews to me as an Author are very important. In my opinions reviews will help critique the Author’s weaknesses and strengths. As I said before this is the beginning of my journey so the way people critique my book will help me to improve. I would definitely want to improve, if this is something I see myself going very far doing.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

YM: Building a brand to me means establishing yourself. Learning, expanding and having faith in yourself and what you do.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

YM: Right now I’m focusing on building a platform as an Author. So all my time will go into promoting my work, and putting myself out there as a Author.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

YM: I haven’t quite set goals as to becoming an author. This is my beginning. However, I’d love to attend book festivals, promote my book in book stores, do more interviews, book tour’s and maybe even make this book a movie.

Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?

YM: Not exactly sure as I stated I’m new to this myself. I can say to other aspiring Authors to keep grinding hard and stay focus. If it’s something you want to do it. Do it! With no hesitations.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Yasmine Mitchell?

YM: I’m currently working on part 2 as of now, I have so many ideas in my head that it’s crazy, so I’m going to go where ever the wind blows. When I want something done I do it.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

YM: This is a tricky question but I’m going to keep it real. Profit is very important. Especially if it is something you plan to make a career out of. In my opinion a person can write, publish, and invest in themselves, but if they are not making a profit how can they make it a living? In which I would say that it definitely sometimes affects the passion you have towards what you love to do. For me I like to succeed in everything I do so I prefect my crafts and put my blood, sweat and tears into getting something done. So, I could see this as becoming a passion.

Slyce: Name three authors you’d love to work with.

YM: I have a few authors that I’d love to work with. Which are Monica Parker, Niki Jivilontae and Pamesha Gates. I’m still reading, and exploring others work as well so there may be more in the future.

Slyce: Do you feel a new author should have a team?

YM: Some way along the process. Yes! A team would and could be very beneficial.

Slyce: What was one of the biggest mistakes you’ve made as a new author?

YM: I would say that reaching out to others, and not being careful. Everyone is not out to help you in this industry or any industry at that in my opinion, but then you have genuine people that want to see you succeed so you have to take chances. Other than that I feel I haven’t made any mistakes, but I know the road will be rocky along the way. I’m prepared for the drive!

Slyce: Where can our viewers purchase your book?

YM: It will be available 1/12/2018 on amazon. I also plan to have plenty on hand copies as well.

Slyce: Is your book an eBook and/or paperback?

YM: Both
