Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Tasha Shante to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
TS: I’ve been reading Urban Fiction since I was 13. After a while I was like now it’s time for me to write something. To be honest my experiences I went through inspired me. That same experiences that every girl is accustomed to. It’s just a great escape from reality basically.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
TS: I’m signed under Author SYvonne Powell
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
TS: Urban Fiction mostly Urban Romance.
Slyce: Have you penned under another name?
TS: Nope just Tasha Shante
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Caught Up Between A Lover And A Hitta”. What was this book about?
TS: It was about a girl name Yashira who was going through a abusive relationship. Now Loon was never this type of way before once he got into a financial bind he let his anger and struggle effect his relationship. In the meantime Yashira meets this big time dude name Shyce who is well known in NYC. He helps escorts Ya out and from there the chemistry grows but at the same time Yashira finds out that his ex Diamond is a chic she bumped heads with in the past. Shyce made it clear that he was done with Diamond and even went out his way to prove it but for some reason she just keeps popping up. So Yashira has to choose to either wheel it out or just stay to herself being that she just came out of a abusive relationship.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
TS: Standalone
Slyce: How important are interviews?
TS: Very Important. It’s good to know about the author first at times before deciding to read there books. Like for instance when I was a reader and would see a author being advertised who I didn’t know, I would do research like where is this person from when did they start writing or how is there personality. Interviews are also good to see what’s the Authors next move pretty much.
Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?
TS: Making a name out of yourself. Promoting, creating a website, LOGOS, interviews and so on.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
TS: Reading group, promoting, signing up for book events and organizing my series down the line.
Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?
TS: Just keep pushing, write from the heart. Network for advice.
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Tasha Shante?
TS: New series on the way and also I’m working on a spin off but that’s a secret lol.
Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?
TS: I write for the passion.

Slyce: What was one of the biggest mistakes you’ve made as a new author?
TS: Well, when I first started I would let my personal life intervene. I just want to pull a book once or twice a month.
