Meet Author Nevada

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Nevada to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah:-).  Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?

Nevada: I wanted to become an author to enrich people’s lives. As a teen, I would get lost for hours in books by Mary Monroe, and I wanted to recreate that magic for somebody else.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

Nevada: I am under Allure Me Publications.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

Nevada: I write urban fiction.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

Nevada: No. Nevada is the only name I penned under.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled “Watch Who You Ride For”. What was this book about?

Nevada: Whoever said revenge is the sweetest joy next to making love must’ve been thinking of Remy Jackson, an outspoken seventeen-year-old who had dreams of a better life. Remy prided herself on being a hustler, and doesn’t take mess from anyone. When her mother starts dating a stranger, some things about him just doesn’t sit well with her. Immediately, Remy’s instincts kick in, so she sets out on a quest to find answers, and she soon discovers that the mystery man might not be who he claims to be. Tempers collide as allegations of sexual misconduct arise. It’s a battle of he say she say, and once sides are chosen, Remy ends up learning a hard lesson. Blood isn’t always thicker than water, so you better watch who you ride for.

Slyce: Is the book a series or a standalone?

Nevada: This book is a series

Slyce: How important are interviews?

Nevada: Interviews are extremely important. I am new to the industry, so I want people to get a chance to get to know the real me.

Slyce: What does the term “Building a Brand” mean?

Nevada: Building a brand means showing your readers what they can expect from you. Everything that you write, and post on social media shapes people’s perception. So with branding I want to make sure I send the message that represents the real me.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

Nevada: The first thing I am focusing on is writing unique stories that bring something different to urban fiction. I have also been networking, and getting to know my readers so I can give them what they want.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

Nevada: Of course I want to be a bestseller. I would be lying if I didn’t admit it. I also would love to build a fan base who truly love, and support what I do.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Nevada?

Nevada: I have a lot of things planned. Everyday I wake up with an idea for a new story. I am very excited about the stories that I have lined up for everyone.

A poem that I wrote called “Crazy”
Why is everyone afraid of the word crazy
A five letter word that has caused wars inside of wars.
A superficial term only able to recognize itself through drinkings of the same cup.
Today I have been released from its grip
I am no longer a victim to its folly.
Because today I accept my insanity with beauty.
Every morning I sit inside of myself talking to a being higher than myself.
I receive love letters from God and call it creativity.
If you could see what I see it would make you crazy too.
I have unmeasurable joy in my being that makes me dance jigs on the moon next to rivers of breathing dragons and words made out of silk.
I am everything that you can measure and everything you can’t explain an inner mystery no one has been able to solve
I am an enigma of scattered ruins and brown smiles.
I am the definition of love itself encapsulated with hate.
I am your greatest fear and your hero all at the same time.
I am me
A peer to the universe
Designed to not only entertain
But make you open your mind and think.
And think of more than what this life says is important
I am a homeless bum shouting at you for direction for peace
follow me
for directions to the rivers of living water running through your very soul.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

Nevada: I write because I am compelled to tell my stories, and my truths. It’s something that I would do even if I never saw a dime.

Nevada: Mary Monroe, Omar Tyree, Sistah Soulja, JK Rowling, Stephen King, James Patterson

Slyce: Name 3 authors you would like to work with.

Nevada: Sentu Taylor, Sa’id Salaam, Mesha Mesh Clark

Slyce: You are an author and lyricist. Can you share something about your other gift?

Nevada: Yes I write poetry as well. It helps me to express myself in ways I am unable to do through a story.
