Meet Author Linda Diane Wattley

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah, Author Linda Diane Wattley to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah :-). Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?Author Linda Diane Wattley

LDW: It was not my plan to be an author. God gave me an assignment that healed my life. I had just finished reading a book by Dr. Phil, “Self-Matters”. Little did I know it would the catalyst to make me realize I was not my best self. For some reason, I was falling apart inside, I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. Then one day, I began to type on my keyboard words that eventually created characters and these characters began to tell their stories and share their journeys. I ended up writing a three-book series about a little girl who was taken out of her bed in the middle of the night and placed in her parents’ bed. Then, returned to her own bed. By book two she grows up and falls in love but no one knows she is a molested angel. By book three God makes her whole. Bottom line, I am a messenger who showed up telling her story through characters with messages of real life experiences

The young men really love her, she doesn’t know what to do because she has a secret and she does know what real. They teach her a lot about herself. The way these young men love on her even the readers don’t know which one is best for her.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

LDW: It is book two of a series.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

LDW: They are very important because interviews allow readers to get to know authors in an intimate way instead of just through their books. It is also an excellent way to network and promote your work. It also gives authors a chance to learn some things about their readers.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

LDW: I feel reviews are important because it lets the author know someone really read your book. It also allows readers to express themselves and in some way, it markets your book because a review could sell a book. Even negative reviews can sell a book at times because they build curiosity.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

LDW: To me, it is living your bottom line, letting people know this is what you stand for and all about. That when people see it they know you are not too far away. It creates memory and familiarity and at times, trust.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

LDW: Keep my name fresh by blogging, interviews, press releases and naming my websites, online presence with “The Truth Will Set You Free” always theme. I include it in my signature blocks and posts often.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

LDW: I would love for my series to be screenplay. I look forward to completing my self-publishing goals and even getting my books available on audio. I wouldn’t mind being a #1 bestselling author. All said and done touch someone’s life is special.

Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?

LDW: The easy part is writing the book, it gets tough when you try to get you and your work known. There are so many authors out there, don’t compare or compete just trust your books are going to go where they are supposed to go. But, do promote as much as possible something big can always happen. The right place at the right time and that right person who believes in you can be right around the corner. And, enjoy the journey!
