Meet Author Eric Williams

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our brother, Author Eric Williams to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my brother:-). Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?Author Eric Williams

EW: Well, I’ve always written in my spare time. I started in 2001 in school with one of my good friends. She and I shared our ideas and put a fan fiction together. She went to college to become an artist, and I kept it going over the years and became the writer.. go figure.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

EW: Divine Legacy Publishing

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

EW: For right now, it is young adult- with minority concentration. I plan to evolve the series as time goes to show the change with the characters.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

EW: A pen name has been discussed, but as of now, I’m comfortable with everyone knowing who I am.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Inspire Me”. What was this book about?

EW: Well, it talks about a young girl who’s parents are in a pending divorce. Her brother is beginning to cut up because he wants his dad. She’s having to make a new life for herself and heal her mom and brother from going at it.

So long story short, it’s her coming of age and learning about life, and things she wouldn’t had she kept her sheltered life.

Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?

EW: Oh, far from being a stand alone. I’ve got 7 total books planned so far, and I’m on number 3 already. I wrote 2 in the past year, which the second is Inspire Me’s sequel.

Slyce: How important are interviews?

EW: Interviews are important, because they give the readers insight about who you are as a person, and what you have to bring to the table. Everyone is different, so that interview makes the connection with those you normally wouldn’t click with. It works especially on the social media platform.

Slyce: How important are reviews?

EW: Really important. If someone didn’t like the book, you’d hear about it, whether through word of mouth or if they post about it. Usually if they’re upset, at an event, it usually means you did your job. All stories aren’t gonna have a happy ending. And others take a little longer than others. Reviews keep readers connected, and gives you the feedback you’d want to get about your product.

Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?

EW: Just what it says. The Timber Ridge Series is a brand. My child. My creation. I built it from the depths of mind. Therefore, to keep everyone wanting more, I have to think of ways of getting them into it AND keeping them into it.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

EW: Attempting to start local. I ask questions. The topics I discuss in my books are rarely addressed, and some will be able to relate, especially in later books, due to character differences. Variety and audience is a must. But it starts with my community, young minorities who don’t have much to relate to, besides what they see on TV.

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

EW: Add to my list of things that I’ve done in my life, I want my Wikipedia page to say a lot about me when I die. I teach, coach, play minor league ball, and write…all right now as we speak. My days are hectic but I manage very well. Overall, I want to be able to say, I did it all.

Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?

EW: If you think it, write it. Writing is the best medicine, and you’ll be surprised how it helps you get through anything you’re going through.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Eric Williams?

EW: Like I said, I’m working on my 3rd, with 2 more already started, but in early development. There’s always something going on. But now as I look, there are 5 books. 2 completed, and 3 in writing. It’s amazing, but you be surprised how staying focus breeds results. When you have the juice, keep going, and don’t stop. That’s what I’m doing.

Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?

EW: Passion. Even if I make a dollar, I’m still grateful.

Slyce: Where can our viewers purchase your book?

EW: Directly from me. We are getting together with the publishing company for online sales. Other than that, just contact me at author.ericwilliams@gmail.com or Eric Williams – Author and I’ll get you one.

Slyce: Is your book an eBook and/or paperback?

EW: Right now, just paperback. I’m exploring the eBook route later on.
