Meet Author E.G. Weeks

Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our sistah E.G. Weeks to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my sistah:-).  Are you ready?

Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?

EGW: I’ve always been a writer since elementary school. I’ve written short stories and poetry over the years but never anything serious. I didn’t become a serious author until about five years ago. I was going through some personal stuff and just decided to work it out by writing. That’s the short version of how my first novel came to be.

Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?

EGW: I’m signed with SnowPublishing. The company is small but we’re doing some awesome work and have a team of incredibly talented people. I’ve also self-published a couple of books.

Slyce: In what genre do you write?

EGW: I’m a romance writer. I particularly like erotic romance but I have also included romantic suspense and poetry.

Slyce: Have you penned under another name?

EGW: Yes, as a matter of my first three books were written under the pen name Elaine Wood, but I have new covers with my new pen name, E.G. Weeks.

Slyce: You wrote a book titled “The Walls Came Tumbling Down”. What was this book about?

EGW: It’s a romantic suspense. The main character, Danielle Moore, is a troubled woman after her husband divorces her. She withdraws into her shell and eventually has built a wall around herself to separate herself from the outside community. She’s a loner. She goes home from work each night and in her fragile psychological state, deals with the demons and monsters that plague her in her sleep. The next day, drags herself back to work looking like she really did some battle the night before. While at the farmer’s market one afternoon, she is confronted by someone who had been following her around the market. This person is wearing a hoodie, with the hood pulled up and their face completely hidden. Danielle is scared and leaves the market. But it’s not the last time she’ll see this creep. She is followed and threatened.

The hero of the story, Trey Collins, is a police detective who is assigned to capture the “hoodie creep” that is harassing neighborhoods. This is how he meets Danielle. The thing is, he has a past connection with her. He feels the need to protect Danielle and he ends up protecting her life.

Slyce: Is the book a series or a standalone?

EGW: It started out that way, but I’m already writing a sequel for Trey Collins!

Slyce: How important are interviews?

EGW: Interviews are very important to authors! It’s a vehicle to bring the author and their work to various audiences. I enjoy interviews because I get to tell new people about my work and who I am! In some cases, I get to ask questions and find out what the readers are into, what they expect. So, really, it’s a win-win!

Slyce: What does the term “Building a Brand” mean?

EGW: It means doing and saying the things necessary to build exposure for oneself. That could mean book signings, book fairs, interviews, takeovers, etc. all to draw in a larger fan base or reader base.

Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?

EGW: I’m working on adding more titles to my name and doing more interviews as well. Promoting my books is something that I do all the time but I am also taking steps to do some book signings and I’d love some consignment opportunities as well!

Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?

EGW: I’d love to see my work on both the big screen and on television someday! Until then, I plan on increasing my library and continue to stretch myself into other genres possibly.

Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author E.G. Weeks?

EGW: Well, there’s always something cooking! I’ve got the sequel to “The Walls Came Tumbling Down” that I’m working on as well as two other projects that I’m trying to flesh out. I’ve also got a collaboration with an incredibly talented author that will be published outside of my signed company but I don’t have a release date on that yet, we’re still pulling together the ending!

Slyce: Tell us about your first book series

EGW: My first series is the TATIANA series. It’s an erotic romance about a woman embarking on a sexual rebirth! There are some incredibly hot men in that series. And the sex scenes…well…there are plenty of them!
