Slyce: Brothers and Sistah’s, please welcome our brother, Author Christopher Antony Meade to “The Interrogation Room”!! Welcome my brother:-). Are you ready?
Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
CAM: Oddly enough, it was my infant school teacher. I must have been an imaginative child because she said I would be a writer when I grew up. I always enjoyed telling stories and I wrote great school essays. I guess the habit of telling tales stayed with me and that’s how I became an author.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
CAM: KCEditions. They are a cooperative publishing company, based in Canada, but with authors from all over the world.
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
CAM: Mainly satire but I like to venture into other areas as well. I’m not really a genre limited type of writer. I like to entertain and make people think. If I can do that, I feel I have achieved my aims.
Slyce: Have you penned under another name?
CAM: No. I’ve always used my real name (Christopher Antony Meade).
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “The Real Leader Of The Illuminati Revealed”. What was this book about?
CAM: It is essentially a series of stories, giving an alternative view on the world today and various episodes from history. As it is a satire, it sets out to poke fun at certain individuals. Characters, from Noah and his family and a well-known fat Korean dictator come in for a pasting.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
CAM: It’s loosely connected to my first book “The Zombie, the Cat, and Barack Obama”. Mainly because they both feature the Illuminati. Apart from that, it stands alone.
Slyce: How important are interviews?
CAM: Interviews are very important for these reasons. Firstly, they give the interviewee a perfect opportunity to present him/her self as a real person, rather than just a typer of words. Secondly, in answering the questions, the author has the opportunity to think and decide things about his/her attitudes, feelings and opinions. This is something that is very useful for a writer.
Slyce: How important are reviews?
CAM: Reviews are essential. A good review can give a great boost to an author because it lets him/her know that their work is appreciated by the reader. It can also boost sales and that can only be a good thing.
Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?
CAM: I’m not really sure and haven’t given it much thought either. I’m just a storyteller who makes people laugh and think. Perhaps that’s “BUILDING A BRAND”. Help me please! I’m becoming a buzz-phrase.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
CAM: None really. I prefer those kind of things to grow naturally. Perhaps I’m right. Then again, I may be very wrong. Time will tell.
Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?
CAM: More or less what I said above. I’d like to entertain and make people think. I’d also like to live off my earnings.
Slyce: What advice would you like to share with aspiring authors?
CAM: Think and act as if you are telling a good story to friends. That’s all a book is really. If you can do that, you’ve cracked it. Then just keep at it, have faith in your own abilities and don’t give up. I haven’t yet.
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Christopher Antony Meade?
CAM: I have a new book in progress but it probably won’t be out for another year or so. It’s a satire set in Heaven. I’m hoping it will be good but it will take a lot more work to get it exactly right.
Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?
CAM: It’s mainly for the passion although I like a bit of profit as well. “The laborer is worthy of his hire” and all that.
Slyce: Name three authors you’d love to work with.
CAM: Jonathan Swift, George Orwell and PG Wodehouse. They are all dead now, so I shall have to wait for a while (hopefully) to meet them.
