Slyce: What inspired you to become an author?
UL: I have always loved reading and writing. I started reading urban fiction novel at an early age. I use to love Carl Webber and Zane books. I never dream of becoming an author. I recall writing only for pleasure. One day I decided to let a friend read my work and she liked it. She sent it to a publisher she knew and I was signed a little while after that.
Slyce: What is the name of your publishing company?
UL: I am currently signed under Dream Writer’s Publishing Group.
Slyce: In what genre do you write?
UL: I mostly write Urban fiction but also write in other Genres as well, for example, Women fiction, African American Lit, and many more.
Slyce: Have you penned under another name?
UL: My first Pen name was just my regular name Lashay Perkins. Now I use Uniquely Lashay, which I feel it represents me well.
Slyce: You wrote a book titled, “Loving An Atlanta Dopeboy This Christmas”. What was this book about?
UL:This book is about a girl name Qulera. Qulera as been in and out of the foster care system which leads her down the wrong roads in the hood. She begins to strip to provide income for her self as she tries to pursue her dream as a signer in the music industry. Once Qulera finds her sister who was also in foster care but separated from her so many years before her life starts to spiral out of control immediately. Christmas as always been a lonely holiday for this plus size beauty so her main focus is having a Christmas with her long-lost sister and niece no matter what. Sleepy is a dope boy born and raised in the Atlanta area who falls head over hills for Qulera. The rest you guys must read.
Slyce: Is this book a stand alone or a series?
UL: This book is an Christmas Novella

UL: This book is now available on eBook and paperback copy on Amazon Kindle and free with Kindle Unlimited.
Slyce: How important are interviews?
UL: Interviews are very important and are a great networking opportunity to have here in this author-industry. It helps you get your story out and gain readers.
Slyce: How important are reviews?
UL: Reviews are very important. They help the new customers know what is the before readers thoughts on the books. Which helps the new ones decide if they want to purchase a book from this author or not..
Slyce: What does the term, “Building a Brand” mean?
UL: It means to build up your company using promoting, advisement, and it is the most important visual voice of any company.
Slyce: What steps are you taking to build your brand?
UL: I have logo’s, I use Facebook ads, and I have plenty of trailers on all my social pages about my novels. These are all things that help build a brand.
Slyce: What goals would you like to achieve as an author?
UL: The main goal I want to achieve as an author is to be the best selling author one day. Also to put out over 15 copies before 2020.
Slyce: Is there anything else cooking in the lab for Author Uniquely Lashay?
UL: Yes, I have a novel dropping in Jan called “Blessed with Beautiful Curves”.
Slyce: What advice can you offer to those aspiring to become authors?
UL: The Advice I have to give is to never give up and keep writing no matter what. In this industry, you will have ups and down.
Slyce: Do you write for the passion or the profit?
UL: I write for the passion and it’s very therapeutic.

UL: Miss Dee, which we have a surprise novel dropping in Feb. Trasand wright who is currently an author on Dream Writer’s Publishing group.
Slyce: What motivates you to write?
UL: To tell people my view of the world and to help me in my everyday life therapeutically.
Slyce: What authors past and/or present had an influence on you?
UL: Jay Jaythawriter is a very important influence on my author career and my very good friend Miss Dee the author. Both are positive people and great friends.
Slyce: Have you done blog talk radio?
UL: I haven’t done one but I would love to in the future.
